Conditions are the licence, and graders check the licence first
Random sampling or assignment earns the generalisation, and the large counts check, at least ten expected successes and failures, licenses the normal model. Writing the check with numbers is the point awarded; asserting it in general terms is the point lost. The habit costs one line per problem and pays on every inference question in the course.
An interval is an estimate with advertised uncertainty
A confidence interval answers how large or small the proportion could plausibly be. The credited interpretation names the population and the parameter: we are 95 percent confident the interval from a to b captures the true proportion of the stated group. The trap is interpreting the level as this interval's probability of being right.
The p value is one precise sentence, so memorise its skeleton
The p value is the probability of a result at least as extreme as the observed one, computed under the assumption that the null hypothesis is true. Every clause carries weight, and paraphrases that drop the assumption clause turn a definition into a wrong statement about the alternative being proven.
Two proportion problems change the question, so name the parameter
With two groups the parameter becomes the difference between proportions, and zero is the value under test. If a confidence interval for the difference contains zero, the data are consistent with equality; if it sits entirely on one side, direction has been established. Answers that name which group leads, in context, collect what vague significance claims leave behind.
Errors and power are decisions priced in advance
A Type I error convicts a true null; a Type II error acquits a false one, and which is costlier depends on the story in the stem. Free response prompts ask for the consequence in context, not the definition alone. Raising the sample size or the significance threshold trades one risk against the other, and saying which way is the mark.

What does AP Statistics Unit 3 cover?

What are the conditions for a one proportion interval?
Random sampling or assignment, and expected successes and failures of at least ten each, checked with the actual numbers.
How do I interpret a 95 percent confidence level?
As the method's long run behaviour: about 95 percent of intervals built this way capture the true proportion. The level describes the method, and the interval you computed either captured it or missed.
What does a p value of 0.03 mean?
If the null hypothesis were true, results at least this extreme would occur about 3 percent of the time. At alpha 0.05 that justifies rejecting the null.
What is the difference between Type I and Type II errors?
Type I rejects a true null; Type II fails to reject a false one. The exam wants the consequence stated in the scenario's terms.
