How is a booklet different from a PDF reader?

A reader shows you the file; a booklet makes it readable. Most course PDFs were never designed for a screen: a two column paper becomes line by line panning on a phone, and the margins of a scanned book eat half the display. A booklet breaks the text into sections, drops it to a single column, and sets the things that actually decide legibility, line length and margin, for the screen you are holding. Same content, in a shape that gets read.

Why break it into sections?

Because forty pages in one block cannot be split into study sessions. A section is the natural edge of a sitting: today you finished two, tomorrow you start the third. That is chunking in its practical form, and it is as much about planning as about memory: without a unit you can count, the question of how much is left has no answer. So a booklet shows progress in sections rather than page numbers. A page number is a property of the file, not of your progress.

Who remembers where you stopped?

The app does, so you do not have to. Close a booklet, come back three days later, and it opens on the line you left. It sounds small, but it is why the bookmark has existed for centuries: someone hunting for their place usually ends up back on their phone rather than back in the text. Booklets sit on a shelf with their covers showing, so you can see how far into each subject you are before you open anything.

Can you export a booklet?

Yes, as a PDF. That has two practical uses: a paper copy for anyone who wants to write on it, and a backup that does not depend on the app. The second is a matter of principle. There is no good reason for something generated from your own file not to stay in your hands. The exported booklet keeps its section structure, so it reads in the same order on paper.

Does a booklet replace the quiz?

No, it completes the sequence. A booklet gets you reading, a quiz tests you, and because both come from the same file nothing falls between them. The order that works is usually: read the section in the booklet, take a quiz on that same section, and let what you miss feed weak topic tracking. Reading alone gives you the feeling of progress without the progress; the forgetting curve has been measuring how fast that leaves for a hundred and forty years. The booklet's job is to make sure there is something read to be tested on.

Which files become booklets?

Any file whose text can be read out. A lecture deck, a scanned book chapter, a photograph of your notes, a handwritten page. The one condition is that the text is extractable. A page that is purely visual, a diagram on its own for instance, stays exactly that in the booklet, because no invented description gets added to it. The same file also becomes a quiz, a deck and an audio recap, so one upload gives you four outputs.
