The neuron and how it fires, the chemical messengers that cross the gap between neurons, the divisions of the nervous system, the endocrine system, and the structures of the brain with what each does. Five clusters, and each one is a list.

A neuron fires at full strength or does not fire, so a stronger stimulus does not produce a stronger signal. It produces more frequent firing and recruits more neurons. That one distinction answers a surprising share of the harder multiple choice items in this unit, because it is the point where intuition and the mechanism disagree.
Neurotransmitters: learn the disruption, not just the name
Attaching each one to what goes wrong when it is disturbed makes the list far easier to hold than attaching it to an abstract function.
